By Elaine'>http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Elaine_Roles">Elaine Roles

"I need to lose weight but I find it so difficult" this was the cry from my friend. So what had happened that caused her to utter those words? There are many different reasons and situations in life that bring us to this point but for this person the thought of turning 40 had made her stop and think.

Whatever life event has brought you to this conclusion, why is it that some people succeed in their health and fitness goals, and some fail?

You say "I need to lose weight", but how much do you really want it?

Basically it comes down to your motivation and that could be anything from just wishful thinking through to a deep down desire which can drive some to extremes in their quest to lose weight.

So how much do you really want to achieve your goal of losing weight? What are you prepared to change to see this happen? How strong is your desire to get fit and lose weight?

It's all very easy to say "I wish I had more energy" or "I wish I was slimmer" or "I wish my bum didn't look so big in this" or more seriously "I wish I wasn't scared to have my blood pressure and cholesterol levels checked".

All of these thoughts and feelings naturally lead you to the conclusion that you must start to take better care of your body by making more of an effort to eat healthily and exercise more.

That's fine for a while but staying motivated and on track can be hard work; therefore you need to set yourself some goals.

"I need to lose weight but how do I get started?"

You may feel that you have over the past years let yourself go. Therefore take this opportunity to answer the following questions.

What do I want to achieve over the next three months in terms of:

1. Fitness Levels

2. Health

3. Weight Loss

4. Inch loss

5. Increased energy

6. Sleep

7. Confidence

I strongly recommend that you write the answers down, don't just leave them in your head. Make sure that what you want to achieve in the next three months is realistic and achievable, set yourself up to succeed.

Not feeling happy with how you look makes you feel bad, and when you feel bad, you eat. Accepting yourself the way you are right now will empower you to make change possible.

Self acceptance is one of the most crucial things you can do in regaining control of your eating it's also one of the hardest. Take the plunge, bite the bullet and do it.

"I need to lose weight but what's the solution?"

Start by making a small positive change in your eating habit today. Making small changes every single day will over time have a big influence on your weight and your health.

Follow a healthy and balance diet eating from a wide variety of foods, don't always eat the same things week in and week out.

Get yourself an exercise plan that you can realistically continue to follow as part of a healthier lifestyle and that way you will get the results you want as well as seeing your energy levels rise and your stress levels fall.

So what's stopping you? You have nothing to lose and everything to gain! http://www.blogger.com/%3Ca%20href= need to lose weight need not be a cry of despair but a cry that inspires you to turn your life around. Introduction

Green tea is often referred to and understood as herbal tea. This particular herbal tea contains a blend of three teas: Puerh (Pu-erh), Sencha and Wuyi Cliff Oolong (Wu Long). Tea is the most widely consumed beverage in the world, following water.

There has been a surge of media coverage in recent times of green tea about the health benefits including boosting metabolism and weight loss. However, the Chinese have been drinking green tea for centuries and have benefited from its curative properties, ranging from treating minor headaches to much larger matters such as preventing cancer.

Green tea is rich in polyphenols. Polyphenols are chemical with powerful antioxidant properties and are classified as catechins. Green tea contains six primary catechin compounds, including epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG). Many studies are beginning to confirm the health benefits of drinking herbal tea regularly. Here you will discover five major health benefits of this scientifically blended green tea:

Helps Weighloss

This unique blend of tea containing Pu erh, Sencha and Wu-Long leaves have the most powerful concentration of polyphenols which help to stimulate thermogenesis. Thermogenesis is the process which burns calories. Green tea with caffeine has been shown to increase thermogenesis by 28%, thereby increasing fat burn. As a morning beverage, green tea has a nominal amount of calories compared to most usual beverages such as regular tea and coffee that most people drink. The simplest way to lose those extra inches on the waistline would be to substitute your regular beverages to this flavoursome tea.

Prevention of Cancer

The Oolong Chinese tea, whose leaves are only partially oxidized gives it a rich floral flavour. It's these whole leaves of Wu Long which provide the added concentration of polyphenols. The harmful effects of free radicals are well documented for causing cardiovascular diseases, aging and cancer. The antioxidant properties of polyphenols help to mop up free radicals and help kill cancerous cells and stop them from growing. In a clinical study, the results suggested that women under the age of 50 who consumed three or more cups of green tea per day were 37% less likely to develop breast cancer compared to women who didn't drink tea.

Promotes Healthy Teeth

Fluoride is a natural compounds which gets accumulated in tea leaves over time, so the oldest leaves contain the most, while the youngest contain the least. The fluoride kills the bacteria in the mouth that causes plaque. Fluoride helps to maintain healthy, cavity-free teeth. Pu erh tea is rich in magnesium which helps in forming healthy teeth and bones. Even drinking 7 eight-ounce cups of green tea every day, your fluoride intake would still be within the "safe zone". Of course, it also means that when consuming this healthy green tea, you are less likely to consume sugar laden fizzy drinks which are harmful to the teeth. The oral health of teeth can be vastly improved by regular consumption of this healthy tea.

Lowers Cholesterol

Cardiovascular disease is a group of diseases of the heart and the blood vessels that can lead to a heart attack, stroke or heart failure. Green tea containing a polyphenol, known as epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG) plays a role in controlling Low-density lipoprotein (LDL or the "bad cholesterol"). Research has shown that Green tea offers protection as it plays an important role in reducing oxidation of LDL, thus making it less likely to stick to artery walls. By reducing the oxidation of LDL, this tea protects artery walls from damage and also lessens the formation and build up of artery-clogging plaques. By maintaining a healthy ratio of "good cholesterol" to "bad cholesterol", it is suggested that the overall health of the body can be vastly improved by drinking this scientifically blended tea.

Improve Brain power

A Japanese study involving men and women aged 70+, measured their congnitive function, which is the ability of how we learn, remember, solve problem and pay attention. After analysing the data, it was concluded that a higher consumption of green tea is associated with a lower incidence of cognitive prevelance.

Conclusion

Drinking this simple, yet powerful tea is a great way to lose weight, eliminate free radicals within your body, lower your cholesterol and blood pressure, fight cancer, improve your mental abilities and in turn, feel healthier.

By Conley'>http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Conley_James">Conley James

For a lot of people, starting a weight loss program or diet program is the toughest part. The thought of extreme or instant changes in lifestyle can scare lots of people. Occasionally we can be so stuck to our old means and bad habits, that change, even for the good, is difficult. That's why many people who frequently put off getting started on shedding unwanted weight never seem to get started at all. Days, weeks and months would elapse without anything changing.

While you may feel constantly stuck in the rut of not getting started with a method or new diet, then here I will discuss 5 tips to help jumpstart you to lose weight. These recommendations can aid you to start reducing weight before you even officially commence a diet program or workout program. Hopefully the onset of early success will inspire you to get started on losing weight.

1) You probably hear this often, but here it is all over again. Drink a great deal of water, especially during meals. It's common knowledge water is beneficial for them, but aside from its nutritional values, consuming a lot of water during meals can help lessen the amount of food you eat. You achieve fullness faster by drinking water as well as lower calorie intake.

2) Try to eat more raw fruit and veggies. Raw fruits and vegetables possess the most concentrated vitamins and minerals, but once they're cooked, a lot of those nutritional values go missing. Therefore the more raw vegetables and fruits you take in, the more nutrients your system will contain, the fuller you'll feel and in essence, the less extra calories you'll consume.

3) Keep away from shopping for unhealthy snacks and foods. This action goes together with the "out of sight, out of mind" idea. If you don't view unhealthy snacks and food in your refrigerator or in the cupboards, then the more unlikely you will desire them. And even if you did crave them, then too bad. You don't have them inside your home. This will help to establish your healthier ways of eating. Keep this up, and you will no more have a need for those kinds of food.

4) Steer clear of watching the TV or sitting at the computer for more than a couple hours at a time. It will encourage you to discover other activities to do that consist of more physical movements. Switch on the radio and dance to your favorite tunes, walk your dog within the neighborhood, run to your nearest park, or if you live nearby, walk to the mall. Activities that only require you to sit on your rear can make you forget about the rest of your body's ability to move. You need exercise, mainly because the calories won't burn themselves.

5) Incorporate more home cooked meals in your diet. This will make certain that what you are having is natural, not processed and doesn't contain any unhealthy items. Aside from the nutritional benefits of cooking your own healthy meals, did you know that cooking can also curb your appetite? Being surrounded by food for an hour or so before you can actually eat it, can curb your appetite. You won't feel as hungry and as a result, you'll consume less.

This isn't a diet routine or program, but it's simply ideas to help jumpstart your diet routine and program. Making these small changes to your way of life will make introducing a diet strategy into your life less difficult since you've already laid some form of foundation. These changes alone can already help you lose weight before you take on your specific diet program. Already losing weight is a great way to get excited and motivated to start your diet program. So take these recommendations and run with them, and you're sure to start seeing change.

Debunking Diet Myths

Click Here To Lose Weight Now!

By R'>http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=R._West">R. West

Most popular diets have two things in common; they guarantee success, and they promise that with a just a few minor changes to your eating habits you can do whatever else you want without any consequences. Both of these statements are nonsense, and I've decided to write an article to discuss some of the major myths concerning popular weight-loss diets.

1. Low-Fat Dieting Reduces Fat Storage

The concept behind low fat dieting is that if you do not consume fat, then your body cannot store fat. This is actually not true, because fat storage is something that occurs after the ingestion of carbohydrates- not fat.

When the human body digests carbohydrates, they are broken down into glucose, which is a simple sugar and is the body's primary source of energy. Glucose is then absorbed into the intestines, and then into the bloodstream (hence the name "blood sugar"). When glucose enters the bloodstream, the pancreas responds by secreting insulin. Insulin is a hormone, which makes glucose usable by the body's cells. Insulin binds to glucose and allows it the body to use it as energy- or stored as fat. By avoiding junk carbohydrates (sugars), the pancreas produces less insulin, and the body is therefore less inclined to store incoming energy as fat.

Avoiding fats in your diet will not have this effect on blood-sugar/insulin. On the contrary, consuming healthy fats such as monounsaturated fats has been discovered to aid in body-fat-loss. However, you should completely avoid trans fats and try to minimize saturated fat intake.

2. Low-Carbohydrate Diets Reduce Fat Storage

The concept behind low-carbohydrate dieting is that when carbohydrates are restricted, the pancreas will not produce large quantities of insulin, and the fat storage will be limited. This blood-sugar-effect is true for this type of diet. However, what really happens on a low-carbohydrate diet is that insulin levels are reduced, and therefore hunger is also reduced. Low-carbohydrate dieters' appetites eventually diminish, and their overall caloric intake usually decreases.

Eventually, the low-carbohydrate dieter just eats less, they become less active, and their metabolism eventually slows down, and they ultimately plateau. Other problems with low-carbohydrate diets is that they tend to be very high in saturated fats, low in fiber, low in vitamins, and they can lead to dehydration.

If you are considering a low-carbohydrate diet, I recommend looking into a cyclical ketogenic diet (CKD), which is basically an on-off-on-off low-carbohdrate diet. The strategy is to have low-carbohydate days, moderate-carbohydrate days, and high-carbohydrate days. This is much more effective, because it can prevent the metabolic slowdown, dehydration, and malnutrition that usually comes with zero-carbohydrate diets. There are lots of variations on CKD diets, and if you are interested, I encourage you to find a program that works for you.

3. Vegetarian/Vegan Diets Lead to Inevitable Weight Loss

Eliminating food products from animal sources is a very compassionate thing to do, however it will not magically translate into weight loss. Vegetarian diets have been found to have profound effects on health such as reduced risk of cancer, heart disease, etc., which makes them an excellent option for overall health. However, it will not necessarily result in fat loss.

Most of the health benefits of vegetarian/vegan diets comes from the fact that the foods are loaded with vitamins, minerals, fiber, and phytochemicals, and they are very low in saturated fats and added hormones. The foods are also bulky, and have a low calorie density. In other words, it takes less calories of vegetables to fill your stomach than it does meat/cheese calories. Needing less food to feel full makes weight loss easier. However, there are plenty of calorie dense vegetarian foods as well. So, if you decide to switch to a vegetarian diet, stick to fresh fruits and vegetables, and avoid processed carbohydrates and junk foods.

Conclusion: What Works

Most popular diets can be effective for short periods of time, because eliminating particular food sources usually leads to reduced calorie-intake. It is not usually the elimination of a particular food source that results in the actual weight loss, but the reduced calories. This is because weight loss is about calories-in vs. calories-out; its about energy consumed vs. energy used.

The most effective way to lose weight is to track your caloric intake, and maintain a steady, moderate calorie deficit (500 to 1,000) calories per day. Make sure to exercise daily, because even a moderate calorie deficit can slow the metabolism, leading to a weight-loss plateau. Make sure to eat high-quality, healthy proteins, such as: chicken, fish, eggs, whey, cottage cheese, etc (protein ingestion has been found to increase metabolism). Avoid processed carbohydrates such as: white bread, white rice, foods in boxes, etc. And, eat a wide variety of fresh fruits and vegetables.

Although these suggestions may seem obvious to many readers, the continued success of new fad diets demonstrates the undying effectiveness of misinformation. I have some free tools on my website that will help you calculate how many calories are burned by doing hundreds of various exercises, as well as a nutrition calculator that will help you construct healthy meals.

Calorie Burning Brown Fat Cells Fueled By Heart

Click Here To Lose Weight Now!

By Kirsten'>http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Kirsten_Whittaker">Kirsten Whittaker

Everyone knows that exercising helps you lose weight because the activity draws on fat stores that muscles use as fuel. Now it seems the heart might be involved in producing calorie burning brown fat cells.

You've probably heard something about brown fat cells, a type of fat that burns calories rather than storing them as extra weight. Adults naturally don't have all that much brown fat in the body, but new research suggests that the hormones produced in the heart might help your body make more of this beneficial type of fat.

The hope is that effective solutions for weight loss can be developed by increasing how much brown fat a person has, or making your body burn more fat.

Up until recently only rodents and newborn babies were known to have significant stores of this calorie burning fat, its primary purpose being to regulate body temperature - brown fat cells burn sugar and release that energy as heat. As we age, the body is better at maintaining temperature and our stores of this fat shrink while white fat appears instead.

The study authors have found that hormones called cardiac natriuretic peptides known to be part of fluid regulation actually caused white, energy storing fat cells to transform into energy consuming brown fat cells in mice. If this were to be found in humans as well, the heart hormone might become an effective treatment for weight loss.

Researchers have been studying how the adrenaline system in the body is involved in the storage of fat and weight loss. In the latest piece of work they demonstrated that the heart hormones activate the fat burning system as well as the adrenaline system, allowing the two systems to work with each other.

When the researchers exposed the mice in their lab to cold, the creatures showed elevated levels of natriuretic peptides circulating in their systems, and this switched on the fat-burning fat.

In a separate study carried out on humans that was published in January 2012 it was suggested that cold encourages the potential of calorie burning brown fat. In this bit of research, six volunteer subjects were put in a climate controlled room while scientists tested to measure their fat metabolism.

When they got cold, but not enough to shiver, the metabolic rate of the subjects went up by 80%, burning an added 250 calories over a three-hour period. This was caused by the brown fat burning up ordinary fat.

However, some experts believe the hype around brown fat isn't backed by science, and treatments using it may not be possible. If the brown variety of fat can be stimulated and if it is effective when it comes to losing weight are two very big ifs. Also, the chance that this would cause other, unintended consequences is great.

We've been down this road before according to some, and there is a feeling that the focus on discovering a "quick fix" for weight loss takes attention away from the fact that we're overeating and exercising too little. Every time science has tried to work with the metabolic defenses of the body- trying to shut off our natural defenses - it hasn't worked. Watch for further research on brown fat cells, and in the meantime, stick to the tried and true for weight loss - less calories, more exercise.

Click Here To Lose Weight Now!

By Jay'>http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Jay_Glenn">Jay Glenn

This is a very good question, and it depends on what kind of six pack you're talking about. Six pack abs would naturally make you think of a person who doesn't need to lose some weight. A six pack of beer, not so much. But do you really have to develop six pack abs to lose some weight and be healthy? No. There are many healthy people out there who don't have those well defined abs. But if you do want to show off those abdominal muscles, go for it!

This is the time of year when men and women are worried about getting a six pack simply because summer is right around the corner and so is bathing suit season. There are lots of myths out there when it comes to obtaining a six pack, and you're going to see that many people do not possess the right information in order to let their six pack shine through. Simply because folks keep trying the same things over and over, and because what they're doing isn't working, they get very upset. They're working hard and not able to get the six pack abs they want. On this page we are going go over a couple of things you need to know in order to achieve the abs that you are looking for.

Many folks believe which they need to do a bunch of sit ups every single day if they would like to get their six pack but this is really a myth. You currently have abdominal muscles, as does every other person on this planet, what you need to do is remove the layer of fat over them so they can shine through. When you see other women or men on the beach and you are able to clearly see the definition of their abdominal muscles, the reason this that they have less body fat and they have developed those muscles. At this stage you should realize that sit ups alone aren't going to let your abdominal muscles come through, you will need to lose the fat on your body to be able to achieve this. They also believe sit ups are a way to lose weight effectively. It can help, but there is more to it than this.

Needless to say when it comes to actually losing fat around your midsection you're going to find that you can not actually target that, because weight loss is generated all over your body at the same time. What it comes down to is that you are going to discover that you need to decrease your overall body fat in order to make your abdominal muscles visible. When have you seen someone who was fat everywhere but his abdomen? And regrettably, the only way you are going to be able to achieve this is to make certain you are getting a lot of exercise all over your body and starting a weight loss program. Your primary aim is to lose the fat on your body, at which point you may possibly want to begin to toning your ab muscles once you can in fact see the muscles showing through.

Sit-ups aren't the way to truly tone your abs, you are going to be better off doing little crunches in order to target the muscles better. A crunch is done in a traditional sit-up position, although you want to concentrate on using nothing but your ab muscles to pull your back up off the ground. Another exercise which can be incredibly effective for toning your abdominal muscles is laying flat on your back and elevating your legs 6 inches off of the floor repeatedly.

Having a set of six pack abs is going to take hard work and dedication, but if you are prepared to put in the time and energy needed you'll have the ability to get these. If you want to lose some weight, you can begin anytime, but if you want to show off your new six pack abs, summer is too late to start. So plan ahead. Work on your weight loss program first, and then move into your workouts. Not only will you have a six pack for the beach, but everything else will be looking better by then too.

Are you wondering if you have to develop six pack abs in order to lose some weight? You're not alone. What do you really want from a http://www.blogger.com/%3Ca%20href= loss program? How about one that has been working for nearly 30 years and has a Nobel Prize winner on its medical staff?

Don't give up. It is possible to have lasting and http://www.blogger.com/%3Ca%20href= weight loss without becoming a bodybuilder.

How to Lose Weight and Be Skinny?

Click Here To Lose Weight Now!

By Meo'>http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Meo_Luoi">Meo Luoi

Losing weight is a goal that many men, women and even children strive to achieve. As society becomes more sedentary in nature and food choices have more unhealthy temptations, it is easy to end up gaining weight. While weight loss will require some work, it is possible to lose weight and become skinny.

Setting a Goal:

The goal of becoming skinny might seem simple enough, but the idea of skinny differs for various people and the amount of weight necessary to reach the goal will also vary. In general, it is best to set a particular weight loss amount, such as ten pounds, rather than setting a goal that does not have any definitive answers. It is always possible to add more to the goal if the result does not end up skinny enough when the pounds melt away.

A final goal is the first step of losing weight and becoming skinny, but it should also include a break down into short term goals. Short term goals should always set realistic figures, such as losing one to two pounds per week, to avoid losing motivation along the way.

Losing weight is a goal that many men, women and even children strive to achieve. As society becomes more sedentary in nature and food choices have more unhealthy temptations, it is easy to end up gaining weight. While weight loss will require some work, it is possible to lose weight and become skinny.

Change Eating Habits:

The only way to lose weight is burning more calories than the body takes in. This means cutting back on the number of calories taken in during the day or making a few changes to eating habits. For most individuals, this is a simple task because it can mean a few minor changes.

Changes to eating habits should include gradually reducing junk foods like chips, cookies, soda and cakes from the diet. These foods are high in calories, but have no nutritional value. Instead, change the items for a piece of fruit, a handful of nuts or a salad. Lower calorie alternatives to high calorie snacks will naturally reduce caloric intake.

The goal of losing weight to become skinny requires eating a healthy, low calorie diet. While it is important to cut calories, it is also important to ensure that the diet has at least 1,050 calories per day at the minimum.

Exercise More:

Exercise combined with a reduced calorie diet is the only way to effectively lose weight for the long term. Adding more exercise to a routine will help burn more calories during the week.

When planning exercise to lose weight, work primarily on cardiovascular exercises like running, swimming or walking. These exercises burn more fat than weight training and thus are better for weight loss goals.

Despite the fact that cardiovascular exercise is better for losing weight, it is still important to plan at least two days of weight training or resistance training. More muscle mass will make calorie burning while the body is at rest more efficient. The result is faster weight loss without building bulky muscle.

Losing weight to become skinny starts with a plan. It will take work, but with diet and exercise it is possible to become skinny.

The Connection Between Obesity and Weight Loss

Click Here To Lose Weight Now!

By Carl'>http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Carl_Gallant">Carl Gallant

Obesity continues to be a serious problem in modern society and the only way to prevent the problem escalating is to make people aware of the dangers of being overweight.

A few ailments that an obese or overweight person could be putting themselves at risk for are:

1. A stroke

2. Diabetes

3. Heart disease

4. Arthritis

5. Hypertension

6. Cancer

Weight loss is the only way to help keep these at bay and losing weight can also help control these diseases.

There are healthy ways to lose the pounds and many unhealthy ways such as the common methods that seem to gain popularity. What methods? Well, things that promise quick results and cost the moon as well as the stars. This is not the way to go when it comes to losing weight. Often these methods prove useless and waste your well earned savings. They come in forms of drinks, supplements or pills and the results, if any, are temporary.

The good old fashion way is the long way but it is also the best way to lose those pounds. Healthy weight loss guarantees longevity and vitality. Being committed and determined to be a healthier you, sets your goals into an obtainable resolution instead of a whimsical idea.

Here are a couple of useful things to know when starting your journey of self discovery:

1. Never starve yourself. Crash diets are a waste of time and the only way to be healthy is to eat healthy. Yes, it is an awesome feeling when that fly by night diet has worked and you can finally fit into that sexy black number or that old pair of jeans... but what happens when you start eating normal again? Your body will punish you for that deprivation and store ALL of the fat you now consume causing you to gain even more weight than before your 'diet'.

2. Begin each day correctly. How? By eating breakfast which is the most important meal of the day. The correct start to the day is to boost your metabolism by supplying sustenance for your body to sustain energy through out the day.

3. Eat small, eat more. Eating five to six healthy potions of food a day is better than three full meals a day. Adopting this way of eating can speed up your metabolism which in turn burns fat that much faster. This can also prevent bingeing and over eating.

4. Set goals. Keep your goals realistic, keep up your momentum and make the changes a part of your every day life.

5. Water. Drink plenty of it to keep hydrated.

6. Less sugar. Keep sweet indulgences to a minimum and load up on fruit as well as vegetables.

7. Work up a sweat. Exercise... if you do not go to gym or do regular work outs then exercise by any means necessary such as taking the stairs instead of the elevator.

By following these simple guidance and getting plenty of sleep then you are on your way to obtaining healthy weight loss. It is a tough road and often results are slow to show but once those pounds fall away, they stay away.

You Can Eat and Still Lose Weight

In this age and time when the popular opinion among some people is that for you to stay at your best in your weight you have to stay away from eating, I have come to understand that that assumption may not be entirely true.

On the contrary, it is rather possible for one to stay trim and healthy even when one is eating but the only catch here is for one to watch what you are eating. There are actually a number of good food especially fruits that can help you to stay in that great shape you have always wanted. Some of these fruits are discussed below;

1. Apples: A compound called Pectin present abundantly in apples increases weight loss by given consumers a feeling of early satisfaction as they eat. This in turn go a long way in preventing consumers from endless and careless consumption of food in a bid to satisfy hunger.

2. Oranges: The anti-oxidant beta-carotenes as found in oranges are helpful in preventing increase in cholesterol thereby reducing our weight. As various researches has pointed out, cholesterol increase in our body tissues brings about unhealthy weight gains which with time can increase the rate of diseases such as high blood pressure, heart failure and other harmful health hazards.

3. Carrots: Apart from been rich in Vitamin A for good eye vision is also one of the few fruits that is very low in calorie. This negligible volume of calorie in carrots makes it one of the great fruits that anyone watching his or her weight should embrace.

4. Tomatoes: If you can muster the courage to be eating raw tomatoes, it can get you satiated easily thereby helping you to put a lead on your weight. The lycopene as found in tomatoes has been found to also help in the prevention of various types of cancer.

5. Oats: Another stable food that has been found to contain much reduced volume of cholesterol is oat. In the place of high cholesterol, oats are rich in high soluble fiber which the body can easily digest and use without necessarily building unnecessary fats in the body tissues.

To get the best from the fruits that have been discussed above, it is essential to ensure that they are consumed when they are still fresh. Though many of the above fruits can be found in processed forms like juice, we are not recommending these juices for anyone that is keen about working toward weight loss. The reason been that most if not all these so called processed juice fruits contain other additives that compromise their roles as "weight-shredders." I am wishing you all the best as you continue to eat to lose weight.

Top Reasons Why You Are Gaining Weight

Click Here To Lose Weight Now!

By Usifoh'>http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Usifoh_Collins_Uduiguomen">Usifoh Collins Uduiguomen

For the majority of the people in our world today, gaining weight is not what many fancy but even at that, there are varying issues that have given vent to this trend called "weight gain".

So many people frown at even the mere thoughts of the possibility of gaining more weight without knowing that some of the habits and norms that they have accepted overtime are actually contributing immensely to their weight gain. Some of the top reasons why people gain weight are itemized below for your observation and possible modification of personal habits as they apply to you.

1. Eating incessantly between major meals: Some people can't just close a blind eye to that pack of candy on the next desk even after they have just eating a sumptuous meal. Little habits like this go a long way in increasing your body fats as your body is not able to burn out the accumulated calorie before you start feeding your body more.

2. Sedentary job positions: this has to do with the nature of jobs that you do. If you are the type whose job is majorly sedentary (jobs that involves sitting down) for long number of hours, chances are that you might have been gaining weight ignorantly cause of the position you often assume in the discharge of your job. Major victims of this peril are typists, secretaries, receptionist and executives who hardly get up from their seat when they resume work.

3. Consumption of fries: fries in our context include but is not restricted to fried meat, fried fish, fried potatoes, fried yam, fried pastries, etc. To many people, their food or meats taste sweeter when fried, but in terms of weight loss, they are not better. The reason been that whenever you have to fry your food before consumption, you are also increasing their fat content which is not easily digestible compared to vitamins.

4. Eating less than 30mins before going to bed: when you have the habit of eating and immediately you hit your bed, chances are that you are not given enough time to your body metabolic tissues to duly metabolize what you have ingested. It also means, since you are now in a state of inactivity, most of the fats in your food will simply be accumulated thereby increasing your body weight in no time.

5. Little or no exercise: weight gain will eventually frost the path of anyone who pays little or no attention to exercises. To avoid this, try to do manually most of the things you can do manually without involving machines all the time. Find time out of your busy schedules to be involved in taking a walk or cycling.

From the aforementioned, we are at higher risks of gaining weight if we do not change some of the above habits and norms as they apply to us. You can reduce your weight and you can stay healthy.

You Are Dying Because Of What You Are Eating

To many, the claim that most people are dying because of what they are eating sounds paradoxical but overtime evidence has abounded to ascertain the above claim. It is my desire to guide you through some of the popular food that you need to pay a closer attention to in your decision to take them and how you should take them when you make a decision to take them in this article.

Some of the more popular foods that will be discussed in this article are;

1. Vegetable Leaves.
2. Beans.
3. Instant noodles.
4. Carbonated drinks.
5. Red Meat.

1. Vegetable leaves: vegetable leaves like the green vegetable leaves, pumpkin leaves and their likes are great sources of vitamins in our diets but they can do more harm to our body tissues than good if they are cooked beyond acceptable temperatures. Some people who form the habit of recycling their vegetable leave soups or stews (warming them over and over) stand a great risk of becoming victims of this ill. Vegetable leave soup or stews should not be consumed after the third day of their initial preparation.

2. Beans: Beans can be a great source of vegetable protein if cooked properly. But most beans also pose a health if they are not well cooked. Such health risks accrual to improper cooking of beans ranges from constipation to other abdominal pains.

3. Instant noodles: the ease and pace at which instant noodles are prepared cannot justify the health risks they pose. They are absent of adequate nutrients. When consumed consistently over a long period of time, instant noodles can be particularly detrimental to the health of children under five and pregnant women. With time it affects the ability of children (in that age bracket) to absorb valuable body nutrients from other foods and it has an adverse effect on the growth of fetus in pregnant women.

4. Carbonated drinks: a common example is a coke or a diet coke and others. Most of them actually against popular opinion can rather deplete your bone strength instead of building them up. So avoid them as a regular source of food and body nutrients. They rarely satiate your thirst, water should be preferred.

5. Red Meat: experts have indicated that the saturated animal fats present in red meat increases the risk of heart diseases and other diseases like atherosclerosis in consumers. Some other health risks that unregulated intake of red meat poses are; colon cancer, rheumatoid arthritis, endometriosis, kidney disease, hypertension, obesity etc.

So when next you are tempted to consume any of the food listed above, do a rethink and I hope you will make the right choice? Eat but don't eat what will turn around to eat you.

Nuggets to Improved Health

For anyone who seeks to better the state and condition of his or her health, it is paramount that such a seeker should pay closer attention to some vital issues which unfortunately so many have overlooked to their peril. It is in a deliberate bid to foster better health that we wish to use this medium to share some nuggets that will go a long way in improving our health status and virility. Some of these nuggets are discussed below;

1. Watch what you eat: one of the things that destroy the human health is attributed to what we consume. If you are the kind of person that feed your body with lots and lots of fatty foods and junks in the name of fast foods and fries, chances are that what you are feeding your body with will in turn devastate the same body you think you are preserving. So no matter how tasty, cheap or available some of the aforementioned food compounds are, it is better you watch keenly before making a decision to feed on them.

2. Ensure you have the daily required volume of fluid: research has shown that more than 60% of the human body tissues contain water. And due to the magnitude of the various metabolic activities that the various body cells engage in, lots and lots of toxic materials are produced which adequate fluid intake is supposed to dilute and properly excrete them as waste. So, it is important that you drink an adequate supply of water daily to nourish the cells of your body.

3. Create time and avenue for exercises: irrespective of how regimented your schedules are, it is healthy that you find time out to get involve in varying degree of exercise no matter how rudimentary they may seem. It could be as trivial as taking a walk instead of the bus, jogging to the nearest shop in the cool of the evening to get some milk for the family instead of using the car, lifting those little weights of cartoons of milk from the car to the kitchen instead of asking the kids alone to do it and the likes.

4. Avoid exposing your body to hostile conditions: some hostile weather conditions that some persons ignorantly exposes their body to like direct ultraviolet sun rays and extreme cold have been responsible for a number of health hazards such as skin cancers, pneumonia and other lung related diseases. To minimize if not to totally eradicate the occurrence of the aforementioned, we should properly cover our skin at varying weather conditions.

5. Be decisive: the womb that buries opportunities is procrastination. So, we are encouraging you not to procrastinate the decision you need to make today to give your health a better improvement. Break the yoke and tell yourself that from today, from now, "I will take drastic steps to improve my health.

An improved health status can mean the difference between life and death. When some disease attack the body, the ability of the body ho be able to fight back is often times a function of the state of health at the time of attack. Keep improving your health and keep living healthy.

Antibiotics - Are They Causing You to Gain Weight?

Click Here To Lose Weight Now!

By David'>http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=David_Szabo">David Szabo

Today, I want to discuss antibiotics and it's effect on weight gain. We aren't going to focus only on personal use, but we are also going to dive into how antibiotics given to livestock are effecting our weight as well.

During cold and flu season you may come down with a cold and jump at the chance to go to the doctor who prescribes an antibiotic. Even though this cold is probably a virus, you take the antibiotic hoping to knock out the cold before it gets worse. The problem is that antibiotics fight bacteria not viruses.

With the common cold or flu, taking an antibiotic may be the worst thing to do. Not only are you destroying bad bacteria but the good (beneficial) bacteria as well. Antibiotics don't distinguish between the good and the bad.

Not only are they destroying beneficial bacteria but they may be causing you to gain weight. The "good guys" may regulate certain hormones responsible for weight loss or gain.

They may help DIGEST FAT, breaking it down into smaller absorbable nutrients.

Let me explain.

Let me give you a little glimpse into the process of beef that comes from factory (commercialized) farms. Back in the day cows were given antibiotics to fight bacterial infections because of a host of reasons including overcrowded disease infested stalls and to fight off infections of dairy cows' utters. Dairy cows' utters became infected from being pumped for milk excessively and antibiotics were used to combat this problem. What these factory farms found out is that by implementing antibiotics into livestock feed is that it caused the livestock to gain weight much more quickly. This meant they could fatten them up for a faster turnover, which meant more money in their pockets. The problem is that this process affects the consumers.

A cow given antibiotics is fattened up which means the meat you consume is fatter instead of leaner. If the antibiotics makes cows fatter, how do think this translates into humans. Don't be fooled by the person at the supermarket telling you the best cut of meat is the most marbleized. The more marbleized a steak is, means more fat for you.

I won't get into too much detail on why organic grass fed beef is better, just know this. Grass fed beef doesn't contain antibiotics or growth hormone, and they aren't fed grains (which also translates into weight gain in humans). Cattle raised on an unnatural diet of grain don't digest this type of food well. The hard to digest food sits in the cow's stomach which forms bacteria. This leads to a host of disease including e-coli. Grass-fed beef also has a great source of CLA (conjugated linoleic acid) which helps to burn fat. The amount of omega-3 and omega-6 are in a much better ratio in grass-fed beef as well. To sum it up, grass-fed beef not only helps in weight loss but is also much healthier that its factory raised counterpart.

Now that I got that out. Let's get back to antibiotics, weight gain, good germs, and bad germs.

Good Germs, Bad Germs.

Antibiotics are powerful drugs which may rid your body of good and bad bacteria. By altering your gut microflora, your appetite may increase. This increase may raise your chances of weight gain, especially FAT GAIN. Like I said earlier, farmers have used antibiotics for many years to increase the size to make fatter and bigger cows with more meat. This use of antibiotics may also destroy a certain bacteria which may be on the brink of extinction. This bacteria may aid in digestion, and without this bacteria, ghrelin secretion may INCREASE possibly increasing your appetite leading to increased weight gain. This is NOT the end of the world, and it doesn't mean you have to stop taking antibiotics, as we know antibiotics do have a special place in the medical field, but there may be a chance to replace your good bacteria after using antibiotics.

Probiotics are products that may contain healthy bacteria which normalize gut flora.

The easiest way to increase beneficial bacteria is to start taking Genesis. It's the best green product I've come across. You can easily get more information on this great product by going to my site.

I hope this article shed some light on antibiotics and weight gain. Hope you enjoyed the information and I hope it helps in some way to better your health as well as reach your fitness goals.

Number One Exercise for Fat Loss

By David'>http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=David_Szabo">David Szabo

Granted there are many great fat burning exercises, but in my personal opinion since the exercise I will be discussing today combines multiple movements, muscle groups, and joint movements into one full body exercise, it is far superior to any other. This exercise will get your heart pumping and have you breathing like a freight train by the time your done.

Remember when doing any type of exercise to burn fat, it's all about the intensity of the workout not how long. For instance, did you know that performing exercises such as HIIT (high intensity interval training) can burn 900% more body fat than traditional cardio/aerobics.

Another advantage of doing high intensity exercises is that it cuts down on exercise time drastically. A 10-12 minute exercise incorporating HIIT burns just as much if not more than an hour of running. This is very beneficial for those that live a hectic lifestyle.

Next time you exercise try incorporating some form of interval training with weight or just plain sprinting using HIIT.

Enough talking, let's get down to business.

Instructions for Man Makers:

First, grab two dumbbells that you can manage effectively. You may need to go up or down in weight after your first set depending on the ease of the routine. My favorite and most versatile weights for exercise are PowerBlock Dumbbells (now available in kettlebells as well). This one unique set of dumbbells replaces as many as 34 different dumbbells which saves room and money.

Get in push-up position while grasping the dumbbells in each hand. Perform a push-up then row one dumbbell towards your midsection while balancing yourself on the other dumbbell, then lower back to the ground. Then do another push-up and repeat a row with the other dumbbell.

While still grasping the dumbbells jump your feet up towards the dumbbells (at this point you should be in a squatting position, feet outside your hands while still grasping the dumbbells).

Next, swing the weights up to should height, go down into a squat (upper legs should be parallel or slightly lower to the floor) and then stand up and shoulder press the dumbbells to full extension over head.

Return to push-up position. This is 1 rep. You should try to complete 10 reps.

Man Maker Steps:

#1 Push-up position (while grasping dumbbells)
#2 Push-up
#3 Row one dumbbell towards midsection and return to floor
#4 Push-up
#5 Repeat step #3 with the other hand
#6 Jump feet toward hands while still grasping dumbbells (you should be in a squat position at this point)
#7 Swing dumbbells to shoulder height
#8 Squat down at least parallel to floor
#9 Stand up
#10 Press dumbbells to full extension over head

This completes one repetition. Complete 10 reps for one set. Please note* Be careful not to do this exercise too fast as this can cause you to use bad form causing injury to the back or bodily injury.

Good Luck and remember to keep progressing forward. If you can't complete the full 10 reps, try decreasing the weight. If 10 reps is too easy, increase the weight.

If you prefer to work out at home, I highly recommend the Powerblock dumbbells. You can take a closer look at these revolutionary dumbbells in my FREE REPORT at my site listed below.

10 Changes You Can Make to Lose Weight

Click Here To Lose Weight Now!

By Conley'>http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Conley_James">Conley James

People consider that losing weight takes all the effort on earth plus the power of the sun. Well you'll be thankful to know that it doesn't. Losing weight is just as possible as gaining weight, and it all begins with making changes. Simple changes like healthier choices or more exercise can really make a big difference.

Incorporate these little changes in your life and turn them into habits. Next thing you know, your pants are fitting better, you feel better and the scale just hit a couple of notches back. Change begets change, plus in this case it would be your excess fat. So what on earth are you waiting for, starting seeing change with these 10 awesome tips.

Here's a summary of 10 changes you can make to lose excess weight.

1) Minimize your white carbohydrates, this can include food that's composed of or contains bread, pasta, white rice and potatoes. Carbohydrates are elements that take longer to digest and quickly become fat.

2) Replace sugary and caffeinated drinks for instance soda and coffee with natural juices. The sugar and calorie content in most drinks are absolutely ridiculous, plus they have no advantages to your state of health in any respect. While soda and coffee can provide you with a burst of instant energy, natural fruit or vegetable juice can likewise do the same although with greater benefits and longer lasting effects.

3) Clean your body and regulate your system with fiber. Doing so will help you dispose of all the waste and additional substances that you don't need in your body. You can locate fiber in food including cereal or oatmeal, nuts, fresh and dried fruits, and vegetables.

4) Drink a lot of liquids such as water, tea and natural juices. This can help you stay fuller throughout the day, in addition to keeping your body hydrated and cleansing your system.

5) Steer clear from processed, hydrogenated or partially hydrogenated foods. Not only are these unhealthy, but they also have cancer causing elements.

6) Avoid adding salt on lots of food items. An excessive amount of sodium in your body can interfere with the right absorption of nutrients.

7) Eat more frequent and smaller sized meals through the day as suppose to just having three big ones. 5 to 8 small portions will keep you fuller than 3 big ones, plus you won't be consuming as much calories in fewer sittings.

8) Stay off the couch. Couches are usually positioned in front of TVs. TVs usually lead to hours of inactivity. One change you absolutely should make if you're trying to lose weight is MORE activity. So keep busy and remain active. Whether that's by exercising or cleaning the house, whatever that will keep you off the couch will work.

9) Snack healthy. As an alternative to reaching for a donut or candy bar, have your cabinets and fridge stocked with healthier options like yogurt, fruits, nuts, and cheeses.

10) When dining out, don't consume over fifty percent of what you've ordered. Restaurant portions tend to be larger than what you would normally have in one meal. So cut fat and calories by only eating a portion of the plate. Save the rest for another meal.

The true secret to putting these 10 tips into action is to do them one by one. When you complete a step, progress to the next one and so on and so forth. Best of luck!

Weight Loss Truth Exposed

By Isaac'>http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Isaac_Barber">Isaac Barber

Why is it so hard to lose weight? I used to ask myself that same question before I became a certified personal trainer. Many experiment with diet pills and many even try fad diets. Yes, those work to a degree.

Let's look at diet pills for a second. Most diet pills consist of caffeine as their main ingredient. Too much caffeine, as we all know, is certainly not good for the body. It can cause the heart to beat faster than normal and cause heart problems later in life if abused.

Now, let us look at the diet fads. Let's face it, if they worked, they would not be a fad, right? Diet fads can work to a certain degree. You might lose weight, even lose weight quickly, but, they can be dangerous. Most people end up gaining the weight back or gaining more weight than they did before starting the diet.

Let's look at one diet that we are all familiar with. The low carbohydrate, high protein diet. In the past, I even tried this diet. Does it work? Yes, to a degree. Because the body uses carbohydrates for energy, if you cut back on them, your body will start to use stored fat as energy. Great, right? No! Eventually, your body will think it can't get the carbs for energy so it will automatically start storing any carbohydrates as fat. So, in the long run your body will store more fat than it needs causing more weight gain. Plus, you will find yourself with less energy to exercise. The body needs carbohydrates to keep the body going during any exercise period.

So, how do you really take off the excess pounds? A couple of ways. First, you must eat five to seven small meals a day. Making sure to eat at least as many grams of protein as body weight, if not one and a half to two times the grams. This will boost your metabolism and help you maintain or build muscle.

The next thing, and this is the one everyone hates to hear, is to exercise! This doesn't mean you have to run a 10k everyday or spend hours at the gym. A simple ten minute walk per day to start will suffice. Eventually, as the weight begins to drop, you will feel better about your self and go for longer walks. Even, possibly, going to the gym and using the treadmill, elliptical, or bike. As far as weight lifting goes, I recommend this for weight loss. Why? Because muscle burns fat. So, the more muscle you build, the more fat you will lose.

In summary, to really lose weight, eat at least five small meals a day and do some sort of exercise. 30 minutes is recommended, but, do what you can.

Remember, always consult your doctor before starting any exercise routine.

Be Motivated To Lose Unsightly Fat

Click Here To Lose Weight Now!

By Lina'>http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Lina_Somes">Lina Somes

Do you want six-pack abs with no fat in sight, as seen in magazine-type TV shows and movies? Are you dragging your feet every time you decide today's the day to change? Have you started on a fitness plan but have lost interest?

The problem it seems is that you are not motivated enough. You are interested in getting the sexy body you want but not committed enough to go the distance. What you need is inspiration or reasons to achieve what you want. Think hard on your objectives. Some scenarios are provided below to help you along:

Motivational Reason #1: Health

If your doctor recommends a lifestyle change, don't say okay but don't follow through. You'll then realize later that you should have listened and made the changes.,You are facing a lot of health risks. Don't wait for a stroke or heart attack to happen just to get you to do something. This includes: lack of exercise, bad diet and bad habits (i.e. smoking and drinking heavily). Be aware, accept, and change will take effect.

Motivational Reason #2: Confidence

Unresolved insecurity is not good. Negative feelings such as not being able to make it happen or finding the task impossible, are definitely not helpful in achieving your fitness goals. Believe in yourself. Be positive. Convince yourself that you can do it and sustain that thought. Don't let other people get you down.

Motivational Reason #3: Affairs of the Heart

Love is motivating. If you want to get the attention of you lady love, be the man she is looking for. She just may not be into you because of how you look. Check out that ugly fat. Women generally like physically attractive men. If you aren't, do something about it.

Motivational Reason #4: Clothes Fit

If you've been spending longer hours going over clothes and looking for the right outfits that hide your excess fat, you need to lose weight. 'Homer Simpson' with his fat is not sexy. Go for a 'Baywatch' figure that allows you to dress in many different clothing in standard cut that don't need alterations.

You should also think of occasions that you can show off your bod such as beach trips or pool parties. In these activities, you'd need to dress down. A large, sagging bulge over your swim shorts is a fashion no-no. It is not attractive to look at. Motivate yourself to flatten your belly, to get washboard abs that look good in any type of beach wear.

Once you have achieved the fitness level you want, enjoy the welcome changes. You may even feel lighter, stronger and more self-assured. Motivating yourself every day allows you to take many steps forward without prodding. Keep up the momentum. Sustain your fitness level and maintain your new-found figure. Keep in mind always that you can. Believe it!

The Women Who Lost 100 Pounds with gastric band hypnotherapy.

I recently read a story written by a woman who lost 8 stone in 14 months. She talks of her life long struggle with her weight and how desperate she was to shed some of it.

One day a family member mentioned a work colleague who'd had fantastic success in losing weight by using gastric band hypnosis also called a hypno band. She was intrigued having heard how effective the surgery was, but too major a step for her to take, she thought why not give the hypnosis version a go.

She was hypnotized into believing that she had undergone gastric band surgery and went on a diet identical to the one the recipients of surgery are put on.

The results amazed her; the weight started coming off immediately. According to her the stomach feels like it has shrunk in size making you feel full far quicker than normal, and if she continued eating she would soon start feeling ill, just like you would if you'd had the surgery.

She also said that she had toyed with the idea of having surgery and might well of had it, but is now glad that she didn't because her weight has been shed without having to go through the trauma of painful surgery and at a fraction of the cost.

How a gastric band works.

The effectiveness of the surgery is undeniable, millions of people worldwide have successfully lost weight this way, but it is a big step and not everyone wants to go to those lengths. A band is surgically positioned around the stomach reducing its size which makes you eat less because you feel fuller sooner. The top part of the stomach above the band fills up quickly and your brain registers that you are full. Digestion is also slower because the food has to pass through the gap left by the band between the two stomach sections, and because the gap is quite small it is a slow process.

If done properly the hypno band will apparently have the same effect as the real thing, resulting in immediate weight loss. This might be the answer for the thousands of obese people who don't qualify for the surgery and don't have the means to fund it themselves.

It could also be the answer for those people who don't like the idea of painful surgery.

Hi My name is David Stanbridge I'm married with a 7yr old boy who keeps me younger.

I became interested from a very early age in the power of the mind, after reading, Napoleon Hill's, "think and Grow Rich." You see I don't believe we would be put on this earth without being able to control our environment. Now many years latter I know it to works. We can influence events If we know how.

So when I put my mind to finding a product to market I thought I would try it on dieting a huge market with an even bigger failure rate. Even with http://www.blogger.com/%3Ca%20href= diets proper mental preparation can increase your chance of successful dieting a thousand fold. For more info go to: see above.

Are you constantly asking, 'help me lose weight? but you can't seem to find a permanent solution! Look no further we have some essential tips for you!

You may be thinking of getting started in a gym or prefer to workout in your own home, whatever your circumstances are you need to realize there are three fundamental elements to be successful:

The first element is exercise, you should train between 3 to 5 times a week and for at least 30 minutes a session. Make sure you increase the intensity of your workout to keep your body progressing and preventing you from hitting the dreaded weight loss 'plateau'.

The second element is nutrition, and this is hugely important if you are going to shed the pounds permanently. Eating smaller meals more frequently is really going to help your body, not only digest the foods but provide you with sustained energy so you don't feel flat. The problem a lot of people have when trying to lose fat is their actual portion size, it seems to get out of control and they can't cut down! The only way to break this cycle is to serve your meal on a smaller plate and get into a regular routine of eating smaller portions which will then turn into a habit. One great benefit of this is it will prevent bloating and stomach upsets.

The third element is mind-set which many people are quick to dismiss but is usually the key to successful weight loss. Having the right mind-set will give you a positive outlook and make you far more determined to succeed in your goals. Visualization is also vital so have a picture in your mind of how you want to look and you can then make a plan and set it in motion. There are some great ways to keep you on the right track. For instance, cutting out a picture or photograph of a celebrity or someone you would like to look like and sticking it in your candy drawer or cookie jar so every time you are tempted by those tasty treats you see that picture and it will remind you to stop indulging and continue eating sensibly!

If you have all of these elements in your fat loss plan you will be more successful in losing weight permanently. If any of these elements are missing it will be much harder to achieve your goals and will take you more time. If you are serious about knowing how to start to lose weight then begin with the basics and proceed with one step at a time. The suggested steps should be to pick an activity that you can do with your friends or family so you will enjoy it and not give up. Get rid of unhealthy foods that you often snack on, as this lessens the temptation to binge between meals. Stop drinking sugary drinks and replace them with flavored water and healthier options. Make a food diary and write down everything you consume, after a week sit down and eliminate all the unhealthy foods that is causing you to be overweight. Finally never quit until you reach your perfect healthy weight!

What It Takes to Lose Weight Permanently

By Frankie'>http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Frankie_Pang_Padilla">Frankie Pang Padilla

I have had numerous people come up to me and ask what it takes to lose weight permanently. I think the reason for this is that I used to be significantly overweight, dropped more than 100 pounds and have kept it off for 10 years. The answer for me is always the same, and that is to change one's lifestyle, but of course, that is much easier said than done. So I thought of a way to address the issue as clearly as possible and break it down into separate parts.

First and foremost, to lose weight, one has to change the way they think about food. For many of us, meals were an event, an opportunity to enjoy something that provided so much joy to us that we lost sight of its real purpose. Food is fuel and nothing more. Sure, a lot of it tastes good, but it is important for all of us to remember we eat to live, and should never live to eat. It is not a good idea to fantasize about food and it is important to learn and understand what all is entailed in a balanced diet.

The second thing I would suggest to lose weight is that you incorporate exercise into your life on a daily basis. It may be difficult at first, when you are out of shape, but it gets easier. The most important thing at the beginning is quantity, not quality. Try not to worry so much about whether or not you are doing an exercise properly or how you look doing it; just do it! The fact of the matter is that it is far more important, early on, to get into the habit of working out rather than worrying about doing it properly.

The third and final thing I suggest to lose weight is to make sure you are getting plenty of sleep. The fact is that sleep is very important to maintaining a healthy lifestyle in so many ways. When you are probably restored in the morning, you have more energy to work out and you don't tend to get sick as often. You also burns calories when you are sleeping, so getting enough of it is a pretty good work out in and of itself. It seems easy to do, but make sure you are actually getting enough sleep each night.

These are three things that I found help a person to lose weight when they are feeling a little on the heavy side. This may all sound pretty basic, but sometimes people try to over-think things and it ends up hurting them in the end. The solution is simple if you are serious about it.

Is Your Liver Making You Fat? How Your Liver Can Sabotage Your Weight Loss Efforts

Is Your Liver Making You Fat?

When you read about health and nutrition, you often hear about how this or that can impact your liver. While you may have a vague understanding of the importance of the liver, you may not really understand its functions.

The liver is the second largest organ in the body and actually has more than 500 functions. It is actually connected to all of the processes in the body because it filters the foods and fluids that enter into your body. It is designed to remove toxins and metabolize fats, carbohydrates and proteins. In addition, it stores minerals, vitamins and sugars. It helps to keep blood pressure at normal levels and removes damaged red blood cells.

When you think about the liver's role in removing and breaking down toxins, it is important to note that if it was not able to break down the toxins that enter the body, death could quickly occur. It must break down such toxins as ammonia, lactic acid, drugs, alcohol, metabolic wastes and so on, so that they can be eliminated from the body.

Many of the hundreds of functions of the liver are essential to metabolism. It constructs systems of enzymes that control the metabolic activity all over the body. It regulates protein metabolism by converting amino acids into different amino acids as they are needed. It metabolizes fat for energy. In fact, you may not realize that the main fat burning organ in your body is the liver.

The liver helps to eliminate excess fat by converting it to bile and pumping it into the small intestines where fiber from the diet will help to remove it from the body. When there is too little fiber in the diet, the fats and toxins can re-circulate back to the liver and weight gain can occur, particularly in the abdominal area. In addition, if the liver is not healthy and cannot properly regulate and metabolize fat, your liver can make you fat. In some cases, particularly in middle-aged people, the liver stops burning fat and begins storing it.

As you can see, your liver is an amazing organ, but it needs you to take care of it properly if you want it to do its job right. By learning more about how the liver works, you can stop your liver from making you fat. Eating the proper foods, such as a diet high in fiber can help to remove the fats that the liver is metabolizing. Maintain a diet high in proper nutrients is also important to keep your liver functioning properly.

Love Your Liver

1. Take more Vitamin C- According to Vincent Zannoni at the University of Michigan Medical School, vitamin C protects the liver. Doses as low as 500 milligrams daily helps prevent fatty buildup and cirrhosis. Taking 5,000 milligrams of vitamin C per day is shown to actually flush fats from the liver.

2. Avoid getting Hepatitis- Your risk of getting this disease is greater if you are not in a monogamous relationship.

3. Cut down on alcohol consumption- Alcoholics make cirrhosis of the liver the 7th leading cause of death in the U.S.

4. Try to prevent gallstones- Only animal foods contain cholesterol, which is why being a vegetarian is a great alternative for some people. Cholesterol forms gallstones...enough said.

5. Eat More Veggies and Less Fat- The fiber and nutrients found in vegetables can help to improve just about every organ in the body. Diseases of the liver can prevent it from breaking down fats. Remember...veggies are virtually fat-free.
