Prom is around the corner, 3 or 4 months away. You are excited to go to Prom and I totally get it. You are looking forward to the great stories and memories you will be able to keep with you for life. You probably started your prom workout and are well on your way to looking great. None the less, if you are reading this article, it's probably because you are looking for some info on what to eat to really look your best on Prom night.
In fact, I used the term diet to lure you in, but it's not a diet per say that I want to follow, it's more a set of nutrition guidelines that will help you make wiser choices when it comes to eating.
Making sure you are eating healthy will be the most important thing you will do during your prom preparation.
Why? Simply said, most of your results will come from your nutrition. I'm not talking about dieting here. You do not need to count your calories; you just need to make informed choices and include the types of foods that will optimize your health and your results.
How should you eat?
The easiest way to explain it is to try to eat like a cavewoman. In those times, the cavewoman had no access to McDonalds or other fast food joints. You should be primarily (if not exclusively) eating food that can be found in nature. If it is possible to hunt it, gather it or grow it, there is a very good chance that the food is good for you. It also works the other way around, if the product is packaged or has more than 5 ingredients and that most of those ingredients are long words you do not even know, the chances that that particular food is good for you are slim.
Prom Nutritional Guidelines (7 guidelines to success)
-Eat 3 full meals and at least one snack per day (up to 2 snacks per day if needed)
-Every meal should have a protein serving (see table for examples)
-Every meal should have at least one serving of vegetables.
-You can have fruits and starchy carbohydrates for your morning meal, your pre workout snack and your post-workout meal.
-Drink at least 8 cups of water per day. Unsweetened tea is fair game too. You can have one black coffee/with milk and/or a diet soda per day if you want.
-Only eat foods that fit into the OK list provided below
-You can have a treat (anything not listed in the ok foods) 3 times per week, just don't go overboard! If you don't need to have a treat, don't eat one. This leaves you leeway for when you really have no healthy eating options.
THE GOOD STUFF TO EAT LIST

Any type or cut of meat (beef, pork...)
